Many local companies and organisations incorporate conservation-directed science and research programmes that are focused on cetaceans and sustainability, developing and delivering educational programmes to the local community.

- Raggy Charters has been visiting local schools for twenty years to help instil a whale culture in the community. In addition to these school visits, Raggy Charters also holds an annual Welcoming the Whales Festival where the public can learn about marine life in Algoa Bay. The company has conducted its own research by recording information from every sighting experienced over this 23 year period.

School visits to underserved communities provide educational opportunities focused on cetaceans and other marine life and, in cooperation with SANNCOB, schoolchildren go on beach visits to learn about the ecosystem and how they can make a difference.

Bayworld PE also have a marine-focused education programme running throughout the year, presenting to school children on a daily basis during the school term and smaller family groups during the school vacation time.

WESSA run their Blue Flag and Groen Sebenza Projects, offering stewards the opportunity to gain paid work and experience with many local tourism operations and accommodation establishments, which provide training on subjects including sustainability.
